The Wolftrap is a wine brand from South Africa’s renowned Boekenhoutskloof that embodies a “wild spirit with accessible quality” philosophy, drawing its identity from a historic wolf trap discovered on the farm – a tribute to the pioneering settlers of the Franschhoek valley who once roamed this untamed wilderness. Launched in 2003 following its inception alongside The Chocolate Block in the 2002 vintage, the brand was specifically created to recall the mysteries and legends of days gone by, particularly since no evidence of wolves has ever been found in the region, adding an air of intrigue to its history. The range consists of three Rhône-style blended wines – a white blend, a rosé, and the flagship red blend (Syrah, Mourvèdre, Viognier) – with The Wolftrap Red the dominant force, characterized by rich, full-bodied flavours that capture the essence of the Cape wilderness while balancing power with elegance.
